I have a dear friend who is struggling with her 13 yr-old autistic son and I was wondering if there's a worldwide website she could go on to chat with other parents of autistic children? I think she feels isolated as she's in a country (not asia) where she's in the minority and not sure that the medical info she's being given is up to date. Thanks....

My i suggest she gets in contact with my friend who used to live here, now back in the UK, and has managed to get her autistic son, who is now 8, on a fantastic American program called Son Rise.
It has really helped her son, he can now focus for 20 minutes, is spelling, now toilet trained and interacting with his brothers and sisters (something he was not doing a year ago. Alternatively have her check out www.autismtreatmentcenter.org The guy who developed this program was originally diagnosed with autism years ago and now leads a perfectly 'normal' life.
Let me know is she wants to contact my friend and good luck to her.

Thankyou everyone. I passed these on to her and she's thrilled to bits. Totty, thanks for the info on Son Rise, apparently she did start the programme but felt Adam was too old now to benefit, but she says she will take another look. Thankyou both again..........
