Effectiveness of Dampp Chasers?

We're getting a small walk-in closet built, about 150 sq ft, and I am considering how to keep the closet contents dry and mold-free. There is a door to the WIC itself, so it could get stuffy.

One option is to install an a/c (there is a small window for this option), otherwise I may use a dehumidifier. I am also considering using dampp-chasers, but haven't had any experience with these, so I wonder if there is anyone who can share:

- are these effective to control humidity, etc.?

- any danger of damaging clothes / contents who come into contact with it?

- where should they be installed? Directly under where the clothes are hung?

- just how warm/hot do they get?

I guess that is a similar product.... dampp chaser website shows these clearly installed in the open, so how can that be if they get that hot? Seems very strange to me

i once had one installed in my closet (not a WIC) and saikunga is right, it gets very hot therefore should not come into contact with anything. but i don't have a clue how it will be in the open.

i find dehumidifier very good, just make sure you get one with large capacity and good brand...and the water collected in the reservoir can always be used in mopping the floor or car washing.
