Baby Check-Up's for healthy baby?

Should I be taking my baby to the doctor for check-up's even if he is healthy? I know it sounds like a daft question but the only time he has been to the doctor is for the Vaccine's which is at the local clinic and once when he had the flu (expat GP) and he could do nothing for him. It's my first baby so I'm just going with the flow.

Any advice?

How old is your baby?

the local clinic should be telling you when to come to the clinic for the necessary vaccines. When you do, they do a normal checkup - weight, length, check for normal growth, check for jaundice. In the first six months, you generally go at 1 month, 3 months, 4 months, 6 months - something like that - depending on the healthy of your baby and the order of vaccines given.

Lots of people like taking their babies to "well baby" clinics -which is for simple checkups to see if their baby is fine, but I found the local system to be comprehensive and quite good. (and free.)

A well baby clinic is a good idea to generally keep an overview of your baby's development and for feeding advise.

Ours is run by a midwife and lactation consultant on Tuesdays and Thursdays, if you would like to come up why not give them a call on 2849 1500
