I would like to plan a trip to Singapore with my hubby and 4 years old daughter. But I have no idea which hotel suits us. Child friendly? Any comments from Fullerton? Mandarin? Ritz Carlton? or others - like Scarlet or boutique hotels?
Regards,
Peggy

We have just come back from a short trip to Singapore with our 6 yr old and 20 mth old.we stayed at the Four Seasons hotel which is at Orchard Blvd (which is walking distance from Orchard Rd but much quieter). It was very child friendly and the room was nice and spacious. They had a small pool for families (and another pool at the spa for adults) and my kids enjoyed the toys they provided at the poolside.

I'd echo the Four Seasons recommendation. With a four year old, you can walk to most of the major shopping centres etc., many of which have indoor play centres. The Ritz Carlton has larger rooms, and I prefer the pool there to the one at the FS, but I find myself spending a lot more time in cabs when I stay there because it is down in the Marina area (same applies to MO next door). In both hotels, the service is excellent, they are very helpful with the children in the restaurant etc. and they do an outstanding job at remembering their names etc. One point that may affect your decision is that children can use the Club floor at the Ritz Carlton, but not at the FS. The rooms at the Fullerton vary a lot in size. Have not stayed at the Scarlett, but in my eperience, boutique hotels are not ideal with children. You'll probably be happy with any of the choices though.

Or if you fancy a resort style you could stay at the Sentosa - we had a great time with our kids and really felt like we were on holiday.

we stayed 3 nights at rasa sentosa last oct - had a ground floor patio facing the gardens and pool. to be honest, room was looking adequate but a little tired looking.
what was great:
the patio - baby sleeps at 7pm so we ordered room service and they came through the patio without having to disturb baby
breakfast - great variety
swimming pool!
not too great:
tired looking rooms
not walking distance to orchard road shopping belt (obviously) but the new vivocity just across from sentosa is one huge shopping complex, lots of kids/baby shops.

just read your post - i would say no to scarlet unless you are getting a connecting room as i stayed there when it first opened and the room was quite small, don't think the 3 of you would be too comfortable. and there is no swimming pool.
but it's great for a sexy weekend away with hubby :)

Thanks all for your information. Any experience with the Fullerton then? I mean the services etc, whether it's child friendly or ....
And how about Shangri La in Santosa? But I heard that we have to pay every time we go back to Santosa, i.e. has to pay more than once a day for that?????

We stayed at the Beaufort in Sentosa and really enjoyed it, has a great Spa too. It did take quite awhile to get into town one night but otherwise about 15 minutes from Orchid Road
