Hello All,

My F-I-L is coming to HK for one month and wants to go on a 8-10 day full tour via HK. Any thoughts?

Cheers.

My dad and I did eight days with dragon air through travel expert - you can go on line and they have all the details of the itinerary. We did Beijing, Xian for the Teracotta Warriors, then the river tour in Guilin. Had a fab time and we had airport pick up and drop off with our own private driver, car and tour guide the entire way and I thought it was very reasonable. You can select what level of hotel. The only thing I would have changed is the meals perhaps, skipped the set lunch restaurants and found our own or asked to be taken elsewhere as they were fairly average (but fine)and insist on not stopping at the obligatory shopping trips if you are not interested in the pears/jade/silk etc and go to a museum or something instead. http://www.kaholidays.com/kah/hk/searchPackage.jsp

Also, remember he might need a multiple entry china visa if he also plans to do something like go to Shenzen, I have met a few people who got a china visa and then unwittingly used it to go to Shenzen only to find out that when they fronted up to go on their China tour it was not invalid since it was single entry.

google dragon air and you will get to www.dragonair.com take the seventh option on the left hand side of the page - dragon air holidays and you can then take the option on the far right of the three buttons, Package Finder and select one of the cities that you would like to go to. It will bring up lots of different itineraries and info - useful even if you don't use them to plan your own trip.

There are travel expert offices everywhere - we use Tammy who speaks english and has helped us for the last four years..she has just moved to an office in a lane just off Queen's Road Central (near the Mcdonalds and opposite the old Lane Crawford)

As everyone says above...

The Dragon Air tours are great - you get a private car and english speaking driver. In addition, you can arrange with the driver to do something not on the itenerary and just pay him a bit extra (ie, different restaurant, theatre tickets, etc...) and the drivers can help translate, order food, etc...

Hope he has a great stay in HK and trip to China!
