Hi, we are moving to HK in April with our 18 month old. Any advice? Are we crazy?
My husband is originally from HK but moved to the UK when he was 13 so is sort of "going home".
Are there lots of parent & toddler groups? Where is the best place to live? How will I cope living near my in-laws?!
Any advice much appreciated.

JoTs, you're certainly not crazy. Lots to think about. Agree with cara, plenty of us have done it, where to live depends on your budget and priorities. We live on the southside, partly for the 'village atmosphere' and partly because it is the least polluted part of HK. Still, the air quality is bad, really bad some days, and IMHO the biggest disadvantage of life in HK (closely followed by rents). That said, we are very happy here.
There was a very comprehensive thread comparing life in the UK to that in HK a little while ago:

There were some very helpful, lengthy and detailed replies on that which you may find useful.
As for proximity to inlaws, only you can decide that! In my case, leaving them in England was a motivation to move (only partly kidding). Good luck!
