What is the difference besides the 'Cost' in the private and the public clinic when it comes to vaccine time.Isn't it all the same and you get the batch no. after anyway?
Is the public clinic giving you everything you are supposed to have?

some people say that the public clinic offers "older" versions of the vaccine - i.e. - polio is oral vs. an injection.
there are two that the public doesn't offer - Hib (which isn't absolutely necessary but a nice precaution) and prevenar pneumococcal.
I went public and would have continued before moving to Seoul and going private here. I thought the public in HK was far superior in that they actually examined my baby, take notice of her healthy. The midwifes were wonderful and the onsite doctor helped monitor my daughters very long standing jaundice and eventually I went to QMH for follow up and it was all very very good.
Some people say that the private vaccinations cause fewer reactions, but I've not had this be the case. Many babies get fever and mild crankiness regardless of public or private.
the cost differential is HUGE by the way. Jabs are $10 one time up front public, and then jabs at private cost anywhere $200 up front. I remember my friend and I were comparing notes and by the time her baby was 4 months, she had spent around $2000 more than I had...something like that.
the choice is really yours. Both have their merits and both are good.

I've been more than happy with going public, infact as HKchoichoi said the service is often alot more thorough. I've been very impressed especially as it's even better than the service I've received in the UK on the NHS.
