My baby is 7 months old and sometimes cross eye when dozing as well up moving them up, down, left and right since birth. Will this in the long run result in him being crossed eyed? Sometimes when we take photos of him, we noticed that his left eye is sometimes more into the inner eye than his right? I heard that if we put toys infront of him too close it will make him cross-eyed but this cannot be helped if he plays with his toys on his own - most of the time he puts them into his mouth. I am at the moment making him look more to his left than his right - just worried that he will have a lazy eye.
Anyone experienced this before and if this continues at what age should I seek specialist help?

is your baby asian?
I just ask because I notice this more "Cross eyed" look in Asian babies more than non asian babies.
Both my girls looked like they had it, and it sorted itself out. If you go to the wellness checkup - it should be something that a doctor sees and notices. They call it a "squint" in HK, and I was initially confused by it.
At 3 months, at the public clinic, they told me that it didn't look like, but these things didn't fully settle until closer to a year. I was very concerned but they were reassuring and told me it didnt' appear to be so.

Yes, my baby is asian and I was concerned when a friend of mine pointed it out when he looked at a photo. The paediatrician checked him all over when he hit 7 months and did not mention about cross-eyeness so I guess I have nothing to worry about.

We had a similar concern with our daughter at a young age. She was "diagnosed" with an extra epicanthic fold (the folds in the "bag" of each eye). If you look at a photo of your small one where it was taken with a flash - if the white flash dot on each pupil is centered in the same spot, no need to worry as the size, shape or fold could be giving you the impression of a turned eye as it did with my daughter. By all means check it out tho. All the best.

Oh, another thing, my mum tells me that my both my brother and sister used to get a wandering eye when they were teething, which rectified itself after teething episode was over.

Thanks georgie10, I will check out my photos later. We do try and use less of the flash as it's not good for baby's eyes - I know myself that my eyes goes all funny when we take photos with flash. Mine hasn't started teething yet but it could be at any time as he puts everything into his mouth.
