Hi. We want to take friends out for my husband's 40th. Somewhere casual and by the water. We liked the look of the yacht club on Middle Island or the VRC (paddling) club in Deepwater Bay - we're not members. I know it is a very open-ended question. Any suggestions?

If you pop across the road from the yacht club there is the Copacabana which is also outside and very casual french style food -- book ahead a particular table and let them know it is a special occassion as the service can be a little slow sometimes but the food is usually good. They often do a set menu. It is on Deepwater bay beach and there is octopus parking outside or a small carpark hourly across the road.
