Trading posts

A few weeks ago, I enquired about an item someone was selling on the trading post and didn't get a reply. Then a few weeks later, the person advertised again and the item I was interested in was being sold at a slightly higher price. I pm-ed him and pointed out he hadn't replied to my earlier message in which the item was advertised for a cheaper price. He replied saying there had been a typo error with the price in the earlier ad.


Then someone else advertised some children's toys for sale and there was something in particular I was interested in so I sent a message. I had already seen the ad appear about 3 times by that time. There was no reply and when I sent another message, the reply came back saying the item had already been sold. Now 3 weeks later, the same person has advertised again with a lot of the things unsold from the last trading post ad and guess what? The item I was interested in then is on sale again but at a slighty higher price.


I've also noticed quite often people who advertise several times keep upping the prices of certain items. I know this because when I do a search for a particular item, I notice the same ads with the same pictures but people then change their usernames when the prices are changed.


This is just annoying!! Has anyone had similar experiences?

For the most part my experience in selling through this site has been good, but each ad brings out one or two wackos. I broke my own rule once and brought an item to the agreed meeting point without knowing that person's phone number, but the other person didn't show up and never called again. In terms of guaranteeing a contact, just get the other person's phone number and use it once to verify. Of course if this doesn't matter, then you take your chances. It's not a problem unique to Asiaxpat.

I wrote to the person mentioned in my second paragraph asking him to clarify why he had the item for sale again at a higher price. I didn't think I'd get a reply but he's actually replied saying it's a completely different one and he's selling it for his neighbour. Maybe I was wrong....
